Sherlock - So bored by katjaku Sherlock - So bored by katjaku
All I wanted to do was draw a scene with bored Sherlock and amused John.
(Still can't draw Martin Freemans face.)

Then, of course, it needed a background (I remember once swearing never to do a bookcase again, oh well...) and naturally I needed to at least try to make the perspectives work.

Then there was no stopping me. I had to do colours, shading, daylight streaming in from the windows...

Three days later (because I've to my memory never done something as detailed as this before) and I'm sick of trying to correct the million tiny things that could still be corrected.

How did I do?

Sherlock Holmes, John Watson and 221b Baker Street from BBC's Sherlock

This is really awesome! Such attention to detail, you should be proud! I can't draw Martin's face either, yet it looks like it should be easier than Benedict's to draw :I

Thank you!
I think my problem was that with Benedict, his face is all distinguishing features that are cheekbones and slanting eyes and high forehead and (the list goes on) that can be easily exaggerated.
Whereas Martin's face gets character from his lines on his forehead and under his eyes etc. If you exaggerate those he just starts to look older.
Damn you Martin's face! :D

You're welcome!
Ah yes, that would make perfect sense! When drawing Benedict, even if it's not completely accurate you could get away through exaggeration. However like you said Martin relies on mostly eyes and wrinkles... Ha ha

Oooh, I remember this. You poke a dot on the paper and then there's these lines and a ruler and freaking math ... Rooms. Gotta hate 'em. But for the record, Sherlock here is perfect, from his hair to those bony, curly toes. Nice to see his feet, really. Have we even seen them on the show?

And speaking of nothing, the proportions are good, nothing jumps out at me. It works really well - love the shadow work, especially on John and Sherlock. And the skull ... gahh. Expecting series three in late 2013 ...

Yes! I remember I always loved doing it on paper, but somehow the experience didn't translate well to photoshop. Great to know I didn't muck it up though :)

Sherlock was a treat in this one, gave me next to no trouble at all. (I'ts John that's the troublemaker.)

And we do see the feet, actually! In The Great Game, in the beginning when he's moping around on the sofa. I love that scene. And yes, the waiting for series three is going to be painful, but so worth it.

I'm going to have to check out the feet, now! And I can almost tell Sherlock was more fun than John, here - even his Adam's apple is pretty. But then, John is supposed to be a bit awkward, especially when Sherlock's being a nutter. The beautiful people usually cater to the pencil more willingly than the less freakishly gorgeous - although Benedict Cumberbath has got one weird (albeit very pretty) face. I've tried to draw him, myself, and it's a bitch. Kudos to you for getting it so very right here!

Ah, yes, Benedict Cumberbatch and his pretty, but weird face. But practice makes perfect, as they say. You should try again, I've seen your other work and it's great. :)
Thanks again :)

Thank you! I really had no idea what I was doing with the light, but I'm glad to know it came out alright.

I tried to write a long story once. Failed miserably, and then my computer died, so I guess it was never meant to be. Now I'm of to read yours. :)

Thank you. Chapter 5 should be up this weekend, I hope.
The only reason I', holding out writing it, is that there seems to be quite a few people who's reading it and waiting for the next chapter.
So I'm going to finish this even if it's kills me :)

Started writing a simple fic for a picture I saw and suddenly I'm saddle with a 7 chapter monster.
